Parade & Public Mass of Pope Francis in Myanmar

On his third day in Myanmar, the Holy Father celebrated a mass in Kyaikkasan Grounds in Yangon as part of his Apostolic Visit in the country.

As early as four o’clock in the morning, in Myanmar, the Kyaikkasan grounds was already occupied by more than two hundred thousand pilgrims from different parts of the globe, including VIPs and special guests.

By four-thirty in the morning, all the designated places assigned were already full. Seats for women, kids and elderly were prioritized and were given allocated seats, biscuits and bottled water were distributed before the gates were opened.

As soon as Pope Francis arrived in Kyaikkasan ground, he gave his smile and blessed the people who waited for couple of hours while on his pope mobile. The crowd can’t contain their excitement as they cheer and shout the name of the Holy Father.

After the parade, it was followed by a Eucharistic celebration presided by our dear Pope Francis. In his homily, the Holy Father acknowledged the efforts of every individual who came from far and remote mountanious areas. The Pope added that he himself also come as a pilgrim to listen and to learn from them as well and offered them some words of hope and consolation.
The Holy Father said that in the first reading in the Book of Daniel, Jesus helps us to see how limited the wisdom of the King was. Daniel, on the other hand, had the wisdom of the Lord and was able to interpret his great mysteries. Pope Francis added that Jesus’ way is radically different, when hatred and rejection led him to his passion and death, He responded with forgiveness and compassion.

The Holy See also prayed for the people in Myanmar, that they may know the healing balm of the Father’s mercy and find the strength to bring it to others and to anoint every hurt and every painful memory. In this way, they will be a faithful witnesses of the reconciliation and peace that God wants to reign in every human heart and in every community.

Pope Francis plead for the healing of all the Myanmar people. Amid much poverty and difficulty, many of them offered practical assistance and solidarity to the poor and suffering. Pope Francis said that the true healing comes from Jesus in the cross and that we may always have the wisdom to find in the wounds of Christ the source of all healing.
Before his homily ends, the Pontiff said these words, “May God bless all of you! May God bless the Church in Myanmar! May he bless this land with his peace! God bless Myanmar!”
